Design #5: Time for Chili

When I began this design I barely even knew how to use the pen tool. I spent plenty of time zooming and refining my curves for this design and I’m quite happy how it turned out. This design comes from season 8 episode 9 titled “El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer)” and damn that is a mouthful.

Here’s the link to the product as a hat, but you can view the design on multiple items if you’re interested. It’s also a damned shame this hat doesn’t actually come in orange.

Design #4: Dancin’ Homer

Another fairly straight forward one, this one is from season 2 episode 5 simply titled “Dancin’ Homer” where Homer has a brief stint as a mascot for the bush league Springfield Isotopes. Sadly his efforts were not appreciated when he moved up to he majors in Capital City. Rather than have a perfect letter H with nice lines and all, I purposely decided to make it a little oblong to reflect the cartoonish nature and Homer’s big gut.

Design #3: Put Food in Me

From a golden era season 7 episode 25 entitled “Summer of 4 foot 2” where the Simpsons use Flanders’ beach house, Homer grabs the sticky note from Marge that’s originally attached to the fridge. You can get this as either a sticker or shirt and I’m really hoping you’ll get someone telling you “Well duh” in a Marge voice. Granted that was her response to the sticky notes on the ice tray.

Design #2: Jimbo’s skull shirt

Naturally after I made the Lil Jimbo bunny shirt the next step was to make Jimbo’s skull shirt. There are numerous versions and variations on the show as they’re drawn slightly different each time, I went with the one that appears in season 6 episode 20 called “Two Dozen and One Greyhounds” when Bart is wanting to raise the puppies to defend against bullies.

Design #1: Lil’ Jimbo Bunny

So it’s been quite some time since I’ve posted anything as outside of this blog as I’ve been fairly busy. However, when I do get some spare downtime I’ve been tinkering with digital illustrations. While I’m ultimately uploading them to my RedBubble shop and possibly some other print on demand shops, I’ve also decided I want to catalogue them all on here as well and also show where the idea came from. My original thought was to do t-shirts and other products found in the backgrounds of popular shows (Obviously started with the Simpsons) to avoid getting in any copyright trouble. This is the first one I did, and as you can tell it’s a fairly basic drawing but everyone’s got to start somewhere.

This design comes from the Simpsons season 9 episode 3 called “Lisa’s Sax”. This heart warming episode feature’s flashbacks to when Bart first began school. During this time, a young Jimbo is introduced as the school bully where he will administer noogies and nipple twisters. I decided to go a little smaller with the design on t-shirts as I think it looks a bit better.

What happened to you man? You used to be cool

Ok I was never really cool. But over the last year I’ve entered a phase of my life where I feel like it’s time to grow up after having a dire realization that it’s either now or never. And sadly that means less video games and never being cool. And while my tag line on this blog also includes comicbooks, I must admit that I haven’t read one in ages.

In traditional fashion, I don’t plan on getting overly personal or into much detail here, but events in 2023 have made me greatly reexamine myself. These events led me to overturn many rocks in my mind and find things hidden under them that I reflected on during many sleepless nights. Through meticulous analysis spurred on by an overactive mind, I dissected those events, leading me to further delve into my traits, ambitions, needs, goals, shortcomings, values, relationships, and vices. Conclusions drawn from these mental marathons laid out the good, the bad and why both are there. Ultimately seeing myself with such clarity gives me motivation and hope as well. In short, I took a long look at my life and decided to change some things.

So how will that influence this blog? Naturally playing less video games and reading less comics, I imagine there will be fewer video game and comicbook related posts as I shift my focus on more grown up activities. Ultimately this blog was supposed to be a creative outlet primarily inspired by the video games I played and comics I read. But many of those creative projects take considerable time to build up the resources to complete them. Maybe deep down inside I knew I set video game projects with such distant goals that I used them to justify continuing playing. Sadly over the years I’ve barely accomplished any of my long term creative projects I had intended to share here. And as much as I don’t want to do so, I feel many of them will simply never be complete due to the shift in priorities. However that is not to say that all of my video game or comic posts will simply stop, I have still put in countless hours to gather material to complete some projects and over time and I do hope to finish them. But starting ambitious new ones will ultimately cease. Many other projects that will be posted here will be more tangible ones as I plan to focus on designing actual physical artistic creations rather than digital, and they will still most likely be video game focused. As a side note, I’ll still probably have the odd Pokemon Go post as I use that to motivate myself to get more steps in a day as one focus now is getting more exercise and losing weight. Generally my posts will become fewer and farther in between as well. Along with less video games, I’m planning to spend less time on my computer overall. While it’s been a nearly lifelong source of entertainment and knowledge, I feel it’s also hindering my life in many other areas.

That seems to be it I guess. I imagined this post to be longer and more heartfelt when I began it. But it looks like it sort of fizzled out. In short, less video game posts, more creative stuff, and probably less overall posts as I change my life up a bit.
