Design #43: Alien Slurm logo

In episode 4 of season 2 in Futurama called “Fry and the Slurm Factory” we see the Futurama gang win a tour of the Slurm factory where the delicious soft drink is produced. Unlike the story it’s satirizing the group finds the horrific secret of the drink while deviating from the tour and the usual absurdity ensues. At one point Zoidberg tries on a shirt that’s “a little tight around the thorax” and I decided to go ahead and make the alien logo into a design.

Design #42: I got toasted at Flaming Moe’s

”Flaming Moe’s” is episode 10 from season 3 and is a golden era classic. So much so that one of my best friends (and Simpson fanatic like me) considers it to be his favourite episode. In short, Homer invents a drink called the Flaming Homer, Moe steals it and makes a killing selling it, and Homer exposes that the secret ingredient is children’s cough medicine leaving Moe to fall from grace and go back to where he started like many cartoon story lines. At one point Bart walks in wearing this design and Homer gets mad. I loved the idea of the gag that a 10 year old kid got toasted at a bar while Moe would simply allow it, most likely for the sake of profits over morals.

Design #41: Springfield Police “Cash bribes only” badge

A while back I had posted a picture on my Instagram about some previous Simpsons drawings I made for my RedBubble shop. Someone in the comments asked for something related to the Springfield police department so I thought I’d look into it. While the Springfield police are shown quite often in The Simpsons, most of the time they’re zoomed out so their badges are just a small shape. After a little more digging, I found that in season 15 episode 16 called “The Wandering Juvie” the show does a close up of Wiggum’s badge with the motto “cash bribes only” so I felt it was a perfect fit.

Design #40: “ULCA” Yankee Cola

This design comes from episode 23 in season 10 called “Thirty Minutes over Tokyo”. Homer ends up getting digitally robbed and the Simpsons are low on funds. To get some tips, they attend a seminar hosted by Chuck Garabedian on how to live on a budget. One tip was to get last minute vacation trips and the Simpsons end up in Japan. Arguably this episode aired around the time the quality of the show began to decline, but I still found it had some great jokes. At one point the waiter at a restaurant called “America Town” wears a shirt with the gibberish “UCLA Yankee Cola” on it so I went ahead and made it for my shop. Fun fact, UCLA actually copyright striked my design so I made a “ULCA” mock one instead so no, ULCA is not a typo.

Design #39: Barney the bully

I’m going to confess I actually don’t know which episode this is from. And as per usual, I’m too lazy to look it up. It’s a pattern that Barney wears in high school at one time and I thought the colours complimented each other nicely and in a clashing fashion so I went ahead and made it as a pattern in my shop.

Design #38: Everyman

First appearing in season 21 episode 20 called “Homer the Whopper” Everyman is a superhero created by Comicbook Guy. His super power is that whenever he touches a superhero comicbook, he gains the abilities of the protagonist. In his first appearance, a movie adaptation is made with, of course, Home chosen to play Everyman. He gets a personal trainer and gets in shape, but eventually everything goes to hell as usual and he gets fat again. If you need a cheap esoteric shirt for a superhero at a Halloween party this is it.

Design #37: Me legs gone gimpy!

In season 5 episode 10 called “$pringfield (or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling)” (by the way I love the nod to Dr. Stranglove in the title) Springfield is shown becoming a town on the verge of economic collapse. After a town hall is held, the citizens agree to legalize gambling and Mr. Burns offers to build a casino. This leads to the viewer finding out that Marge, until now basically a saint of a wife, has a vice and it’s a gambling addiction which ultimately leads to her neglecting her family. While Mr. Burns tours the boardwalk where his casino will be built, he has a flash back of him crippling an Irishmen. One of my favourite quotes to yell when I’ve hurt myself (doesn’t have to be a leg) is “Me ______s gone gimpy!” with said accent and therefor I absolutely had to make this.
