This one comes from the same episode 2 of season 1 called “The Series has Landed” as my last design so I won’t really cover the episode. That’s all, have a good day.
This one goes back, way back, to the second episode of the first season call “The Series has Landed”. Fry’s first delivery is to the moon, and sadly he finds that it’s been heavily commercialized since the year 2000. They encounter a local farmer, who wears this hat. For those who don’t know, in the US south the slogan “The south shall rise again” refers to the civil war. I love that this implies that at one point the inhabitants of the moon rebelled against some planet, presumably Earth.
Extremely happy with how this one turned out! After testing the fill option on my previous design, I decided to expand the lines on a design and see how bolder lines would look once stained and it looks perfect! Going forward I’m going to implement this method where possible.
While I know it’s not a massive step forward in expanding my laser engraving skills, this is one of the very first designs I completed testing the fill options as opposed to simple line engraving. I was ecstatic with the results too! Obviously you’ll know where this logo comes from if you’re a big Simpsons fan.
This one is also from episode 6 of season 5 called “Less Than Hero”. While showing a montage of the heroes fighting crimes and helping the general public, Clobberella helps get a cat out of a tree for an alien wearing a NNY basketball shirt. So here it is.
In episode 6 of season 5 called “Less Than Hero” Fry and Leela apply a cream to their sores. Logically this cream gives them super powers. To fight crime in New New York, they adopt alter egos and Leela becomes Clobberella. Bender joins the team and modestly names himself Super King and he has no actual super powers. This one also makes for an easy Halloween costume!
This one sort of worked out, but not exactly how I had hoped. Regardless I still spent the time making it so here it is. This design is another original one I made for my RedBubble shop. It’s Hans Moleman as a ghost saying “Boo-urns” and if you’re a big Simpsons fan you’ll understand the reference. With the text bubble, I need to make a border and that resulted in a lot of negative space, so I put a pumpkin there to fill it out. I may revisit the design at a later date and try something else as overall I was satisfied with the space and pumpkin addition. Oh well.
Season 7 episode 5 “Lisa the Vegetarian”. Can’t really recreate this item from the show, unless I actually roast a fat ass swine and launch it in the air. But the theme fits my shop so you can buy this design on various items.
This one comes from way back in season 2 episode 8 called “Bart the Daredevil”. After the Simpson family go see Captain Lance Murdock. and Truckosaurus, Bart decide that he also wants to be a daredevil. After some mild stunts he decides to jump Springfield Gorge on his skateboard. This is the shirt he wears when he attempts to do so.
After my first 2 coaster sets, I took a long break from tinkering with my laser cutter/engraver. Eventually I started back up and I was also wondering what else could I make besides coasters. Among other options I did also think of fridge magnets. So to add to my workshop I picked up a glue gun and magnet tape. As for the design, I converted the Shelbyville lemon eater vector design for my Redbubble shop into a laser file and hit print. I then stained it with the same stain I used for my other coaster sets. I was quite happy with the cut itself but did notice that doing line cuts left the design a bit hard to see with the chosen stain but it wasn’t too bad just a takeaway note to myself. I then put on the magnets and slapped it on my fridge. For me one of the best feelings was learning how to convert my already made vector designs into the laser readable file. The easy conversion opened up a big doorway for me as I’ve got many designs already created that I want to bring to life in stained wood form.
